St. Roch Catholic Church, Kahuku, HI.

This is another photograph taken from a moving vehicle, this time of St. Roch Catholic Church in Kahuku, Hawaii.  I unfortunately know nothing else about this O'ahu North Shore church.

Saints Peter and Paul Mission, Haleiwa, HI

Photos from a moving vehicle are always difficult, so this only gives you a glimpse of this Catholic mission church in Haleiwa, O'ahu, Hawaii.

On the island's northeast shore, this Catholic mission church was built in 1953 and is served by St. Michael's Parish.

Wind City Church, Medicine Bow, Wyoming

These photographs are of Wind City Church in Medicine Bow, Wyoming.  The church is a fundamentalist Christian church of the sola scriptura branch of Protestantism.  It opened in 2019.

Unidentified, Livermore Colorado. (Sometimes the photos aren't very good).

This is an unidentified, and likely abandoned Prairie Gothic church near the highway in Livermore, Colorado.

I've been by this church a zillion times, but until had to stop in Livermore the other day, I never attempted to photograph it. Stopping in, I found that unless a person is willing to is trespassing, which I wasn't, a moving highway photo is about as good as a person can do.

So why do it all? Well, at least its cataloged.

This isn't, by the way, the only church in Livermore.  There's a much nicer newer one I'll photograph in the future.  I suspect that church replaced this one.

Abundant Life Fellowship, Greeley Colorado.

This church houses the Abundant Life Fellowship in Greeley, Colorado.  The church is a Gothic style older church, but I otherwise know nothing about it.

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Houston Texas

This is the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in downtown Houston, Texas.  The church was built in 1875.

This church, located right downtown, has undoubtedly seen a lot of changes in this immediate neigbhorood.

Cody United Methodist Church, Cody Wyoming

A very poor Iphone photograph fo the Cody Methodist Church, taken from my truck window.  If I have time, I'll take a better one on some other occasion.

I don't know the vintage of this quite striking modern structure.

Holy Transfiguration of Christ Orthodox Cathedral, Denver Colorado

This is the Holy Transfiguration of Christ Cathedral in North Denver.  This Cathedral is a Cathedral of the Orthodox Church in America, a church which traces its origin to the Russian Orthodox Church after the Russian Revolution. The particular neighborhood this church is in must have been heavily Slavic at one time, as there is a Catholic Church which was built for a largely Polish population all within a couple of blocks, with a third Catholic Church nearby..  Recently I observed a Polish flag, flying with the US flag, on a Catholic school in the neighborhood, but are the area is largely Hispanic today.

There are two bodies that descend from the Russian Orthodox Church in the US today, and I frankly don't quite understand the relationship between the two, but this Cathedral in Denver reflects part of Denver's Russian Orthodox community.  The church dates to 1898.

The Masters School, Lewistown Montana

I thought that this was a church, and I still suspect that it serves this function, but it is also a Christian school, located in Lewistown Montana. Other than that it is a school, with a very church like appearance, I do not know anything else about it.

Temple Events Center, formally Temple Emanuel Synagogue

It took me some time to figure out what this building is, or was. Given the styling, I thought perhaps it had been built as an Eastern Rite or Orthodox church.

No, in fact it was a synagogue. This building was the Temple Emanuel Synagogue, built in 1899. I don't know its history beyond that, but today it is an events center and available for various uses.

Photograph with the Catholic Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in the background.

Of interest, this building strongly resembles the St. Peter and St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church in Salt Lake City, which was also originally built as a synagogue.

Observant folks might notice that this post was first made in February 2011, but has now reappeared in November, 2012.  The reason is that I happened to be parked in this neighborhood a couple of days ago and had the opportunity to take photographs of this structure from the sidewalk, as opposed to from inside my vehicle, as the first photo was taken.

The Father's House, Crow Agency Montana

This is, admittedly, an odd photograph, and not intended to be disrespectful, but it is a bit startling in a way.  This is The Father's House, a church in Crow Agency, Montana.  The church shares a parking lot with a casino, hence the sign.  From what little I can determine, this Prairie Gothic style church was built as a Catholic Church and was at some point moved to this location.

We unfortunately did not get the opportunity to stop and take a proper photograph, but in the future, if we get the chance, we will.  The reason that we didn't is that a lightening caused grass fire was roaring just outside of town, and it looked as if the highway might soon be closed.

Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Denver

This is the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Denver Colorado, the Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Cathedral. It's in a neighborhood with heavy traffic, so these photographs were taken from a vehicle, making them less than ideal. The Cathedral offices, which look like a Greek Orthodox Church, are on the same ground and are also included here. Theotokos roughly translates as Mother of God, so the Cathedral is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Mountain View Community Church, Ft. Collins, Colorad

This is a terrible photograph, but it was taken fro a moving vehicle and it was my only opportunity to take the photo. This church was obviously built a long time ago, and no doubt for some other congregation. It's a large, Gothic style church located quite near downtown.

Grant Avenue Methodist Church and Community Center, Denver Colorado

Another bad photograph taken from a moving car, this photograph depicts the Grant Avenue Methodist Church in Denver Colorado.

I don't know much about this south Denver Church, but it has apparently been donated to the community so that it now serves both as a Methodist Church and a Community Center. It was built in 1908.

Unknown Church, Riverton Wyoming

This building was obviously built as a church, and apparently is no longer used as one. I don't know anything else about it, other than it is on the same block as the current, and much more recent, Episcopal church in Riverton.
