Unidentified, Livermore Colorado. (Sometimes the photos aren't very good).

This is an unidentified, and likely abandoned Prairie Gothic church near the highway in Livermore, Colorado.

I've been by this church a zillion times, but until had to stop in Livermore the other day, I never attempted to photograph it. Stopping in, I found that unless a person is willing to is trespassing, which I wasn't, a moving highway photo is about as good as a person can do.

So why do it all? Well, at least its cataloged.

This isn't, by the way, the only church in Livermore.  There's a much nicer newer one I'll photograph in the future.  I suspect that church replaced this one.

Unknown church near Ft. Fred Steele, Carbon County, Wyoming.

This abandoned church sits in a ranch yard just outside of Ft. Fred Steele in Carbon County, Wyoming.  I have no other information on it, other than it appears quite old.

Unknown, Chugwater Wyoming

This is a church that has been converted into the Chugwater Branch Library, a branch of the Platte County Library, in Chugwater Wyoming.  I'm not familiar with the history of the former church, which retains its cross.

Unknown abandoned church, Otto Wyoming

This is an abandoned church in tiny Otto Wyoming.  I have no idea what the history of the church is, or when it was built, or what denomination it was.

And, yes, it was foggy when I took these photos.

Unknown former church, Cody Wyoming (but probably the original Methodist Episcopal Church)

This structure in Cody Wyoming was very obviously once a church, which is even more evident if you are closer to it and can see where some of its features have been removed.  It's been converted into a two story retail establishment.  I don't know its story, but it is located directly across from the current Cody United Methodist Church which might, or might not, give us a clue about its earlier history.  At least the story told about the building of Christ's Episcopal Church in Cody would suggest that this is the original Methodist Episcopal church, in which it was built in 1902.

This too is a poor Iphone photograph, and I will replace it with a better photo if the situation presents itself.

Unidentified Church, North Casper Wyoming.

This is the location of a former church in North Casper, Wyoming.  Now its the site of Food For Thought, a charitable organization in Casper.  I unfortunatley do not know what denomination built hte church, although the letters "W M" are on the door, indicating that perhaps it was once a Wesleyan Methodist church.

The church is near a park dedicated to James Reeb, a minister who lost his live in the South during the Civil Rights era, but I do not know of a connection, off hand, between him and this church.

Private Chapel, Pathfinder Ranch, Wyoming

Private churches or chapels were once common in England, but they're rare in the United States, and particularly rare in the Western United Statas, but here's an example, a private chapel on the large Pathfinder Ranch in Natrona and Carbon Counties, Wyoming.

These photographs were taken from just off the highway, when I had to stop to make a cell phone call, and are taken with two different lenses, one being the Pentax lens my K-x came equipped with, and the other being a Vivitar telephoto lens built for a Pentax film camera. Pentax digital DSLs will use the old Pentax bayonet mount lenses if the camera is set on the manual settings.

Unknown Church, Centerra Colorado

These are terrible photographs, but they sort of demonstrate a current trend in American life. This is a very large church, just off of Interstate 25, near Centerra Colorado.

Centerra is an area north of Denver that's being developed heavily, and which features shopping just off the Interstate. This church must serve the local community, adn I dn't knkow anything else about it.

Unidentified Prairie Gothic style church in Hanna, Wyoming.

Unidentified, Medicine Bow Wyoming

This is an old Prairie Gothic style church in Medicine Bow, Wyoming, but other than that, I don't know anything about it.

All photos from this date from our Flickr Site.

Unidentified, Casper Wyoming

Surprising effort at converting a house into a church, located in Casper Wyoming. The architecture here also leans on Byzantine elements.

Elk Mountain, Wyoming

I don't know, or no longer know, the denomination of this church in the rural town of Elk Mountain, Wyoming. This is, in part, because this photo was taken in 1986.

Mountain View Community Church, Ft. Collins, Colorad

This is a terrible photograph, but it was taken fro a moving vehicle and it was my only opportunity to take the photo. This church was obviously built a long time ago, and no doubt for some other congregation. It's a large, Gothic style church located quite near downtown.

Unknown Church, Riverton Wyoming

This building was obviously built as a church, and apparently is no longer used as one. I don't know anything else about it, other than it is on the same block as the current, and much more recent, Episcopal church in Riverton.

Unidentified, Denver Colorado

Central Denver has a large number of traditional styled churches, of which this is one. Taken from my pickup truck window while stopped at an intersection, I was unable to identify it.
