A new lawsuit has been filed maintaining, apparently, that the P&Z Board in Cody was biased towards the applicants.

Churches of the West: City of Cody issues building permit for LDS Temple.

We posted this yesterday.

It's interesting how the Press can put a different spin on this. The CST reported this, this way:

Cody issues building permit for proposed LDS temple

Cowboy State Daily, however, reported it this way:

Gigantic 101-Foot-Tall LDS Temple A Done Deal, As Far As City Of Cody’s Concerned

 Not exactly the same.

City of Cody issues building permit for LDS Temple.

Citing, amongst other things, a lack of resources to fight a long legal battle, the City of Cody has issued a building permit for a new Latter Day Saints temple in Cody.

The structure, to be built on Skyline Drive, has been a major source of controversy due to its location.

Blog Mirror: Tale Of 2 LDS Temples: Casper’s On Fast Track While Plans For Cody’s Protested

Interesting news story on construction of a religious building, and controversy. . . and lack of it.

Tale Of 2 LDS Temples: Casper’s On Fast Track While Plans For Cody’s Protested

Skyline Drive dominates Cody's horizon, which is a big part of the reason for the controversy there.

I don't have a comment on this, nor should I.  I don't live in Cody, and what occurs there in regard to something of this type isn't my affair.  Rather, what I'd point out, as a blog that deals with church architecture, that contemporary LDS Temples are obviously all the same, and indeed, they're basically sort of a kit.  As a person who likes every religious building to be unique, I find that a bit sad.   According to the LDS site this particular style, which they term "modular", is new to the 2020s.

Latter Day Saints, East Casper, Wyoming

And this is a second Latter Day Saints building in east Casper.  This is a very recently built building dating from the 2010s and featuring the architectural style common for LDS buildings.

Latter Day Saints, East Casper, Wyoming

This very unusual looking Latter Day Saints building is in East Casper.  I don't know the vintage of the building, but almost all of the buildings in this part of Casper were built during the 1960s.

Community of Christ Church Hulett, Wyoming

This is the Community of Christ Church in Hulett, Wyoming.  The Community of Christ was formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and, as the name would indicate, its an offshoot of the Mormon religion, having separated from the LDS quite early.

This church is immediately adjacent to the Catholic St. Matthew's church.  It's not unusual to see churches built side by side, but in this instance the appearance is a bit unique as both churches were built from house like structures.

Latter Day Saints, Farson Wyoming.

These photographs are of the Mormon church in Farson Wyoming.  I was stopped to take a photograph of something else at the time, which explains the unusual camera angle of these photos.

Latter Day Saints and Assemblies of God, Hanna Wyoming

This is the LDS church in Hanna Wyoming, with a very poor depiction of the Assemblies of God church to its left.  Hanna has a collection of churches all very near each other on a hill on the edge of town.

Salvation Army Church, Salt Lake City Utah

This poor photograph was taken from a moving car. It depicts the Salvation Army Church in Salt Lake City Utah. I believe this to be the only classically styled church belonging to the Salvation Army that I have ever seen.
