Punchbowl, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, O'ahu, Hawaii

Perhaps the most beautiful, and in someways the most somber, National Cemetery, this is the "Punchbowl" on O'ahu, Hawaii.

Created after World War Two as a final resting place for the thousands of US servicemen who had died in the Pacific, it was established in 1949 and contains the remains of over 61,000 US servicemen who lost their lives in World War Two, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

Wyoming State Of The State 2024. Opening Prayer by Rev. Tammy Dewey.

I wouldn't normally give a review of an opening session of the legislature's prayer, but Rev. Tammy Dewey of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Casper did a particularly nice, and very Christian one, here.  It starts at about 12:29.

Lex Anteinternet: Today is St. Dwynwen's Day.

Lex Anteinternet: Today is St. Dwynwen's Day.

Today is St. Dwynwen's Day.

The ruins of the church built by St. Dwynwen.

She was a Welsh nun of the early Church, having died in about the year 460.

She is the patron saint of lovers, having lived as a hermit on Ynys Llanddwyn off the west coast of Anglesey, where she built a church.  Becoming a hermit was common amongst the extremely devout of the early Church, although it's more common associated with North Africa.  She apparently had been very sought after by a young suitor whom she could not marry, and in her isolation prayed that God look after all true lovers.

Her day is widely celebrated in Wales. off the west coast of Anglesey, where she built a church.  Becoming a hermit was common amongst the extremely devout of the early Church, although it's more common associated with North Africa.  She apparently had been very sought after by a young suitor whom she could not marry, and in her isolation prayed that God look after all true lovers.

Brotherhood of Punch Bowl Holy Ghost, Honolulu Hawaii.

I'll admit that I'm confused on this one.  This is a church, or at least a church like structure, associated with O'ahu's Portuguese community.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Kaneohe, Hawaii

Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Kaneohe, Hawaii was originally the location of St. Charles Mission Church, which was built in 1867, and which was under the care of the Heeia Mission Community.  It was torn down and rebuilt in 1939 as Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
